Director of Client Solutions + Media Relations

Jan 2024 - Present

As Director of Client Solutions and Media Relations at Piper and Gold Public Relations, I led the development of the agency’s first dedicated media relations department. I designed and implemented a strategic framework that elevated client visibility across education, public health, economic development, and mental health sectors. My work focused on aligning brand positioning, executive visibility, and advocacy communications to measurable outcomes that strengthened both client brands and organizational influence.

Key achievements include:

Media Placements:

  • Secured more than 100 targeted media placements, significantly increasing client visibility and reinforcing brand credibility across regional and national platforms.

Brand Visibility Campaign:

  • Directed media relations and public visibility efforts for ATESTEO’s North American headquarters launch, generating more than 2.66 million earned media impressions through strategic stakeholder engagement and targeted storytelling.

Event and Crisis Communications:

  • Led communications strategy and execution for CMHA-CEI’s crisis stabilization center wall-breaking event, achieving more than 3.15 million earned media impressions and positioning the project as a leader in innovative mental health care.

  • Directed the development of a Community Needs and Perceptions Analysis to inform public messaging strategies, ensuring communications were rooted in research and aligned with community expectations.

Cross-Functional Strategy Development:

  • Developed cross-functional communications strategies that integrated marketing, governmental affairs, and executive messaging to ensure consistent brand voice and increased community engagement.

Macomb County Community Mental Health 
Communications Manager 

2022-2025

As Communications Manager for Macomb County Community Mental Health, the third-largest community mental health agency in Michigan, I led the development of the agency’s first comprehensive strategic communication framework. I served as a senior advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, aligning public messaging, internal communications, and advocacy strategies to support the agency’s mission and strategic goals. My leadership integrated cross-functional collaboration across clinical, administrative, and governmental relations teams to drive visibility, enhance stakeholder trust, and expand access to mental health care services.

Key achievements include:

Brand Strategy and Refresh:

  • Directed the agency’s full brand refresh, including the creation of its first official brand guidelines, cohesive visual identity, redesigned website, and updated marketing materials, strengthening stakeholder confidence and community recognition.

Governmental and Public Affairs:

  • Built and managed strategic relationships with local, regional, and state government officials to advocate for expanded mental health services, enhance policy initiatives, and strengthen community partnerships.

  • Managed external public relations agencies, ensuring alignment between agency goals, public-facing messaging, and earned media strategies.

Executive and Internal Communications:

  • Developed internal communications enhancements including quarterly CEO chats, weekly workforce updates, and redesigned intranet platforms, improving employee engagement and information access across four physical sites.

  • Advised C-Suite leadership on public messaging, crisis communications planning, media strategy, and executive visibility, supporting leadership positioning across internal and external audiences.

Media Relations and Visibility:

  • Increased agency media visibility by 30 percent through proactive outreach, strategic storytelling, and building relationships with local, regional, and statewide media.

Audience Research and Targeted Outreach:

  • Conducted audience research and engagement studies to better understand community needs and perceptions, guiding the development of messaging strategies that resonated with diverse populations across Metro Detroit.
